Plaza Theatre - Bangalore
Plaza Theatre was one of the oldest premier movie theatre that started in MG Road in 1936. Modelled on the ‘Plaza’ - Piccadilly Circus in London, was known for screening some of the most popular movies brining Hollywood to Bangalore. Now a happy memory in the hearts of several long time movie buffs.
For a long time the primary audience mostly the British, and a predominantly Tamil and Anglicised Indian crowd. In the early days going to Plaza was a major event for many families who treated it similar to going on a picnic, dressed in their best attire with several friends and families getting together in city centre travelling from various parts of Bangalore.
It now serves as the central station for the Bangalore Metro.
