Izmir Clock Tower
This is an illustration I created especially for Be Izmir & Izmir Planning Agency Illustration Contest (Turkey), on the theme "Harmony with Differences".
This work was selected for an exhibition and received a money prize.
The subject of the competition was to use the silhouette of Izmir's Clock Tower, reflecting the harmony of culture in Izmir.
Izmir is a city renowned for its expansive bazaar, as well as its political history.
It's teeming with life, always crowded, or, as they say in Turkey, "kalabalık".
I went for Wimmelbuch style, playing with the negative space of the Tower instead of filling it. This approach helped me to create a busy looking image that captures the essence of Izmir.
