Quiet day on the river is about to get interesting...

This illustration started out as a simple interpretation of an old family photo taken at the Athabasca Falls. I decided to spice it up a bit by altering the scene - adding the canoeist rounding a corner which reveals a portion of the trip he may not have been planning on.

Toughest challenge of this project was interpreting the falls. My gosh. Almost trashed the entire illustration 3 or 4 times trying to figure out this component.
