2015 Google Prototype Vehicle Art Winner

As one of five Google Paint the Town contest winners, my door art will be featured on prototype self-driving vehicles cruising the streets of Austin, Texas in early 2016: https://www.google.com/selfdrivingcar/paint/austin/

The rules:

Create art based on the Austin theme, “my community, my neighbors.” Art must work around LED door lighting.

My design:

In Austin, there is music around every corner. Music brings us together, inspires us, and keeps our community thriving.

After sketching a few failed music-themed ideas, I caught an overhead glimpse of my mom’s record player, and imagined the Google LED door light as a needle arm. From there, I kept the graphics flat, and pulled a few colors from Material Design.
