Meet the Unicorn: a simple game on a single sheet of paper
A simple game on a single sheet of paper
I designed this game for an assignment from the “Introduction to Game Design” course at California Institute of the Arts.
The starting point of the assignment had some rules
Make a simple game on a single sheet of paper.
The game should include a clear goal, and a degree of difficulty enhanced by chance or skill.
The game should be a one-player game that fits on one piece of paper, ideally A4 so people can print it out if they wish.
Instructions should be at the top of the page, and the only extra thing anyone should need to play is two six-sided dice.
Throughout the weeks we had more assignments to improve the game; adding narratives, some additional mechanisms, turning the game into a multiplayer one, enhancing balance, adding some NPCs etc.
