The Trench Mattock

This is a part of a poster series I designed for Warwood Tools. The Trench Mattock is a famous hand tool, which was used the US millitary during the WWI, and WWII. Front-line soldiers often dug “foxholes”, or trenches by hand. Trench warfare commonly consisted of crawling hundreds of meters, only to climb into miles and miles of trenches, barely wider than a hallway.

The goal was to make a vintage 'Poster' look, and because I really like history and historical objects/tools, it was really a pleasure to read all the informations how the tool was used during I collected the informations before start to draw. Also was a great and proud feeling to working with this nearly 170 years old hand tool company called 'Warwood Tool'.
