Appolígrafo

Appolígrafo is an application that, in its user experience, combats fake news using artificial intelligence to cross-reference data from certified news outlets and agencies.

One of today's major problems is the proliferation of fake news on the internet, leading to misinformation and other harms. According to a Reuters survey, 48% of Brazilians do not trust news from traditional journalistic outlets. With the increasing use of social media and the declining trust in traditional outlets, falsehoods are spreading even further.

The concept of Appolígrafo emerged, utilizing technology to support professional journalism in combating misinformation. The process is straightforward:

  1. The user pastes the news link into the application.

  2. The application scans certified outlets for related topics.

  3. The user receives the verdict based on this research. If the news is false, the user can report it and receive links debunking the fake news. If the news is accurate, the user receives additional suggestions from reputable outlets that support the topic.

The ultimate goal, beyond combating lies and misinformation, is to restore credibility and promote consumption of content from traditional and certified journalism outlets.
