Meet Sweat Hero 🦿

Hey there, I am Horia Veselin , Product Design Lead at Sweatcoin / Sweat Economy and Creative Director of Sweat Hero, a Web3 NFT-based mobile game within Sweat Wallet.

For this Dribbble case study, I will walk you through a shortened version of our year-long process of design and implementation while crafting the next-gen web3 mobile game experience for 14M+ users on Sweat Wallet App.

First Things First, What is Sweat Economy?

Sweat Economy is a web3 initiative of Sweatcoin. Within the Sweat Economy app, a crypto token, $SWEAT and a cryptocurrency wallet, Sweat Wallet exist. With more than 14 million wallets created since it’s release in September 2022, Sweat Economy has become one of the fastest-growing wallets on the market.

The Birth of Sweat Hero

We started with a simple goal → to enhance the utility of $SWEAT, by creating an engaging experience for our users. This led us to the idea of integrating a mini-game into our wallet app, aligning perfectly with our mission of promoting an active lifestyle.

Our concept for Sweat Hero was inspired by music rhythm games like Guitar Hero, with a tap-on-screen gameplay experience that's both fun and challenging. As we delved deeper into the concept, we also began developing an NFT collection based on the metaphor of "Legs" to complement the game.

Project Timeline

To ensure optimal success for our project and to allow enough time for both design and development to refine the project, the product was released in two initial phases: Closed Beta and Open Beta.

During the Closed Beta phase, we released the product to a small number of users within our Wallet App to gather feedback and metrics that would help us further develop the feature.

Once the Closed Beta phase was successful and we validated that our feature was set for success, we moved into the Open Beta phase, which involved a 100% rollout to our users on both iOS and Android.

Closed Beta - Implementation and Opening Up to 2,000 Users

The closed beta design and implementation took approximately 3–4 months, with the final product undergoing QA testing in December and the official launch set for the second week of January 2023.

On January 8, 2023, we opened the feature to a limited 2,000 users. Throughout the first quarte of the year, this number grew through prize draws and competitions, reaching around 5,500 users by the end of the closed beta.

Open Beta (Q3 ’23 — Present)

Fast forward to today, after a successful Closed Beta phase, Sweat Hero is now available to all iOS and Android users on our Sweat Wallet App.

Over the last few months, the team has enhanced the game based on user feedback. Significant updates, such as the Legs Genesis Collection V2.0 and new gameplay features, have been introduced during the Open Beta phase to increase retention and set the stage for more exciting future updates.

Current Status

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, Sweat Hero has been rolled out to 100% of our iOS and Android users. Additionally, with a good number of active playing users, the team is looking to increase D1 retention by an additional 7–10% by the end of Q1.

With the release of the Sweat Economy Roadmap for 2024, the game is scheduled to move away from Beta and enter its new development phase in the latter half of the year and introduce Sweat Hero V2 and the highly anticipated dynamic NFTs.

I'm incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished with Sweat Hero, and none of it would have been possible without their hard work and dedication. Together, we've created a game that's not only entertaining but also encourages a healthier lifestyle.
