Break a mirror and you'll get seven years of bad luck. This superstition has been traced back to the ancient times of the Romans. They believed mirrors were devices in which the gods observed our souls. So to break one would be careless and disrespectful and 7 years of back luck would be the price to pay. Why 7 years? Because they also believed that the body renewed itself every 7 years.
