WWP Interface Rehaul
The Wisconsin Work Programs (WWP) system is a modernization of the work program case management functions from CARES mainframe. Last updated over 10 year ago, and some screens still running on a command line, a lot of work was required to get this interface up to speed with current technologies.
Keep the Good Stuff
It was important to support power users, so we kept all the keyboard shortcuts and other "hacks" from the previous system, but removed all the overwhelming menu systems and unintuitive language.
Visualizing Data
We replaced daunting spreadsheets of data with organized and illustrated information that can be understood at a glance.
Why Grey?
This software was designed always with the user in mind. Research found that staring at a white screen all day lead to strained vision, so extra bright colors were used sparingly, only to highlight fields and other interactive elements.
Value the User's time, and Value the User's Work!
Those were our two golden rules when designing an interface. And this led to creating a feature that preserved anything workers inputted into the system, and made it easy to retrieve and compare with other revisions.
