Spreadsheet integration

Geckoboard's spreadsheet integration consists of two primary steps. Initially, the user selects the data for import and chooses the preferred visualization.

Next, the user can further tailor the chart and swiftly alter the selection if necessary.

Key challenges include:

• Information architecture: It's essential to layout the various options in a way that makes it clear for the user what to do and when, and to label the options clearly.

• Spacing: It's crucial to provide adequate space based on the user's current task. For instance, in the first step—data selection—I created a large canvas to facilitate easy navigation and selection by dragging. However, in the second step, the canvas is smaller because the emphasis is on the chart.
