DAILY UI // 015: On Off Switch
Day 015 of the DailyUI.co 100 day User Interface design challenge.
The On Off Switch
With this piece of interaction, commonly referred to as the "toggle" there are several items that have to be covered simultaneously in order to properly communicate the action that is being asked of the user.
According to usability.gov:
"A toggle button allows the user to change a setting between two states. They are most effective when the on/off states are visually distinct."
This can be accomplished by way use of signifiers (also sometimes referred to as affordance) utilizing dimensionality, color, and syntax. This can be reaffirmed with strongly opposing visual states ensuring the user an action can happen or has occured.
Feedback is welcome
