WORKING AT NEW DUNEDIN HOSPITAL

On October 6, 2022, Best Apisit Uthakhamkong interviewed with Kathryn Van Beek, showcasing my design work for the Unearthed Ōtakou exhibition. As a design intern with Te Whatu Ora – Southern at Otago Polytechnic, I chose the school for its reputation but faced adjustments moving from Bangkok to Dunedin. Despite initial challenges, I embraced the serene atmosphere and friendly community. Opting for a hospital internship as part of my Graduate Diploma, I overcame initial fears and contributed to various projects, including designing for the New Dunedin Hospital. The experience broadened my perspective, allowing me to connect design with the hospital’s branding. In my free time, I pursue hobbies like cycling, sketching, and painting watercolors, and I lead The Peace Club at the University of Otago, working on a peace documentary. Having found peace with the hospital environment, I highly recommend the internship experience for its transformative impact.
