Amazon Echo - Mini
I've always felt that Amazon design interesting products, but don't really know what to do with them. Echo is in itself, a cool product. A device that you can control with your voice, manage your smart home, play music, amongst other things. Isn't that great!? But Amazon have yet to push the boundaries of where this device could go (i'm sure they will).
I feel the frustration of Echo being locked to a specific room of the house to be valuable. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedroom, lounges all have specific but very different needs. Different things I want to do, different tasks I need to achieve. If Echo is the smart hub, how about creating micro units that can control different rooms.
With the Mini Echo, I wanted to design a smaller, fun size Echo which could be a simple input/output device for the hub. I would now use Echo from any room and the new device sends and retrieves data from the hub. The smaller size equates from a much smaller amount of hardware needed. Wifi networked with the hub creates a fun system where the Echo could start to understand space, push sound through-out the home by knowing where other devices are. Sensors can adjust volume of speakers to balance atmosphere and conserve power where needed.
Each room would of course have it's own colour LED band to match. Couldn't come up with a name. Maybe Echo Mini, or Whisper :).
**This is just a random concept. Not a fully produced product.**
