084Atelier

084Atelier is an art, cultural, and fragrance project that encompasses of transferring the intangibility of art and culture into a tangible product of fragranced candles. As an art and creative direction enthusiast, my role in this project was significant as I took the lead of the project from preliminary research, strategies, execution, and development.

My role in this project:

  • Creative director

  • UX/UI/graphic designer

  • Branding and marketing director

  • Product developer

  • Business manager

Intro

As a project that relies heavily on the backbone the Vietnamese culture - Dao Mau, 084Atelier carries a vision to deliver and simplify what seems to be complicated and superstitious to tangible and approachable concepts. To symbolise living organism and the circle of life, the image of a tree was selected to demonstrate liveliness and mystique of mother nature.

Product Development - Tam Phu Cong Dong

Tangible product development of the project was the most meticulous stage, in which, I implemented stories of the 3 great palaces: Thien phu, Dia phu, Thoai phu of the Vietnamese culture, Dao Mau into the fragranced candles. Each story being depicted through scent, and visualised through paintings, creating an immersive and multi-sensory experience.

While Thien phu (the heaven palace) signifies as red as an emblem, Dia phu (the earth palace) symbolises as gold. Lastly, Thoai phu (the ocean palace) is depicted using white/blue.

Solmont - Dong Son Dai Ngan

Being the lastly released product, Solmont fragranced candle holds a tremendous amount of details unraveling culture and scent. Specifically, using the essential oil of Bach Xanh, one of the rarest and currently listed as a national endangered plant, Solmont was only produced with a quantity of 100. While we also collaborated with the Rarerium, a preservative moss artist, each candle lid was hand-crafted with moss art and Selenite crystal.

Creative Direction

Solmont, a fragrance within the 084Atelier collection, transforms into a divine ode to Mẫu Thượng Ngàn, a revered Vietnamese goddess in the spiritual realm of Đạo Mẫu. Crafted from the rare essence of the Bách Xanh tree, Solmont becomes a sacred vessel, symbolizing the goddess's benevolent presence in every drop.

Its exclusive design, featuring preserved moss and the radiant Selenite, mirrors the sanctity of Mẫu Thượng Ngàn's divine abode.

Numbered from 1 to 100, each Solmont candle becomes a consecrated artifact, embodying the goddess's sacred names and blessings. Lighting the Solmont candle becomes a ritual, inviting the holiest of fragrances into sacred spaces, a sensory pilgrimage resonating with the eternal grace of Mẫu Thượng Ngàn.
