Daily UI 010: Social Share
This took longer than expected.
I'd seen a version of this on Zander Whitehurst's Instagram as one of his 'supafast' tutorials months ago and it was the first thing that came to mind when I read the prompt "social share".
After digging up the post again (this time on LinkedIn) I discovered it was originally done by the incredibly talented and creative "Double Glitch", who had left a comment to the Medium article he created detailing the process. Turns out I'd been following him on Instagram for a long time but hadn't seen this yet.
I absolutely love the gooey liquid effect and wanted to make my own adaptation of it. The makeup of layers and components is relatively straight forward and yet quite complex. They all need to be quite specific and in the right order else the effect simply won't work.
After some trial and error and reverse engineering Double Glitch's Figma Community file, I managed to get a working prototype. Then I began with my own adaptation making the buttons appear in sequence around the top hemisphere of the main button.
This was a ton of fun (albeit a little frustrating at times) and it's super satisfying to have it working as intended.
Thanks to Roman and Zander for the inspiration!
I'm totally gonna be adapting some of their other work and incorporating it into my own!
