Shot 034 - Photo Filter App

Today's challenge is a photo filters app, with less of a focus on 'filters' and more around seamless photo-editing. It takes a few aspects of what I like in current experiences and mixes them together a little bit.

This shot isn't super comprehensive, but the idea was to create a modular stack of visual effects along the bottom row for global effects (similar to Instagram), creating a histogram of edits you've made over time. You can then tap anywhere on the photo to make spot modifications, also using the footer system to stack effects within that radius (similar to Snapseed). I love the flexibility of both systems, combining gestural controls with simplified interaction patterns that can make an experience feel smoother. I'm sure it'd take a while to understand the iconography but personally I've never had much of a problem with a learning curve, and usually welcome it if it brings in a valuable way of doing things beyond novelty.
