Jayber Crow Book Cover

Jayber Crow by Wendell Berry is one of my favorite novels. The story captures the histories of many people in the fictional town of Port William, but it is told through the first-person account of one character.

To communicate this idea in a way that conveyed the tone and aesthetic of the novel, I took a print of an oak leaf, and then overlayed a selection of a vintage painting of a tree (Pieter Jansz, c. 1650) to create "a tree within a leaf." The effect added depth of both texture and meaning.
