iTunes Music Store (conception)

The iTunes Music Store was being prototyped for just over a year before engineering budgets and engineering managers started getting allocated.

Steve had a way with record executives and would meet face to face with the big 5 record labels showing them my design treatments until we arrived at a solution that pleased each of them separately (and then collectively).

This slide is from the Applications 100 Managers meeting in 2001 about a year before the first design treatment for the iTunes Music Store saw the light of day.

The very first time SJ asked for a design treatment from me for the iTunes Music Store (circa 2002) included a shopping cart.

(Before we had permission to use 1-Click from Amazon).
