Summary:
This document discusses the challenges faced by a company with its referral program and how they solved them. They experimented with different reward types and found that real cash was preferred by referrers. They also introduced a rake-based system where referrers could earn a share of the margin generated by referees. The new program worked better in terms of some metrics, but the north star metric of GMV/referee was marginally better. Learnings from this experiment informed future iterations.
