1000 Miles Run in 2023
On the 29th of December, I hit my goal of running 1000 miles (or 1610km) in 2023! The equivalent of running from Brisbane to Melbourne or New York to St. Louis. This year, I ran my first race, the NY State Winter Run Series, four 5km runs over the course of January. I won my age group in 3 of the 4 races, consistently in the top 15 females in all races. In February, I ran my first Half Marathon distance in a time of 1:51:12, not bad for a first attempt and something to build on for next year. In September I ran a more prestigious race, the Great Cow Harbor 10km. My goal was to run this in under 49 mins (around my PB at the time). I smashed that PB and ran it in 47:45! It was probably the biggest highlight of the year, a challenging hilly course on a rainy day. I was also lucky enough to have my Mum cheering me on for this race. :) I also kept my commitment to running every week which, as of last week, I’ve now run 200 weeks in a row. Once again, I ran in some cool places: all over Long Island NY, Upstate NY, at home in Australia (Mooloolaba & Cornubia Forest), and Québec City, Canada. As a side goal for 2023, I also walked over 10,000 steps every day this year, except for the one skipped day due to the time change while flying to Australia. Some stats for the year:- I hit 1000mi on 280 runs in 363 days - My average pace for the year was 5’03” - I once again set new PBs in every distance I ran - I ran 10km+ 44 times - I consistently ran 5 - 6 days per week and over 100km every month. Bring on 2024!
