FOMO.com

fomo.com is a call to action to all today's young people who are hooked on technology, an awareness campaign that addresses a current issue, a very dangerous silent addiction: digital addiction.

Fomo is the acronym in English that means "fear of missing out", the feeling of not being connected to the digital world and the need not to stay away from your mobile for too long.

This master's final project in interaction design arose from the idea of: from now on I will be collaborating in creating that addiction for people. And there really are times when it doesn't feel good to be a part of that. For me it is the beginning of getting fully into that reality.

The concept, in general terms, is based on "accelerated thinking syndrome." How the excess of information and digital intoxication causes us to consume a lot of content without focusing on anything. And just as in other areas we would talk about rehabilitation or detoxification, in this case we could also apply it: digital detox.

The user who enters the microsite is directed through a 4-phase journey to detoxify. In the first phase, the artificial entity addresses the user so that he can find out and realize if he has a digital addiction. The second phase is an infinite scroll of images that do not load: a perfect way to stress the user, yet another way to increase that digital dependency. In the third phase, a VR filter has been created, which, far from making you beautiful, tells you the reality of the situation through data, and based on real studies. And in the final phase, the user manages to speak with a chatbot, similar to a therapist, who gives advice on how to detach from the mobile phone and offers other alternatives to start the digital detox.
