Pupusera

Illustration I did last night during the latest Noche Bohemia session by Creato, a Latinx-based community for creatives in Toronto. The theme behind the session was ‘Food for the Soul: Favorite Foods from Home’, so I obviously had to pay homage to pupusas, aka the delicacy of our Pipil goddesses.

I really wanted to use this creative exercise to play digitally with some linocut designs I did a couple of weeks ago in my Printmaking class, so I thought it would be a great idea to use those richly-textured assets as part of the textile design of the huipil the pupusera is wearing in the illustration.

Scroll down to see the full huipil design.

Thanks to the guys behind Creato for this amazing initiative. It was so cool hanging out with so many creative Latinx folks here in Toronto!
