VIRTUAL MUSEUM: AN ART MUSEUM VIRTUAL TOUR APPLICATION
Virtual Museum is an application that allows users to take virtual tours of museums quickly and browse art museums near them!
This application concept was created as a part of my Google UX design certificate and took around 3 months to complete
Project Overview
The product:
Virtual Museum is an application that allows users to take virtual tours of museums quickly and browse art museums near them
Project duration:
October 2023 - December 2023
The problem:
People have to go through various hurdles when it comes to viewing art museums around them and taking virtual tours
The goal:
Every user has easy access to art museums around them, art-related news, and virtual tours
Responsibilities:
I had the responsibility of conducting user research, creating wireframes based on the research, creating low-fidelity & high-fidelity prototypes, and refining my designs based on usability study insights
User Research
I conducted user research by interviewing the people (students, and staff) in my art program at my university and I did secondary research online and understood people’s needs. I assumed that people interested in such an application would generally have a background in art, or be interested in art history. According to another case study, 51.3% of people aged 13 to 30 are not interested in museums, theatre, or opera. So, I will be targeting an older audience with my application.
Low-Fidelity Prototype
The low fidelity prototype is cleaner and more intuitive than the digital wireframes. The museums are better laid out and there is an ability to save museums. The virtual tour screen is not overwhelming and aims to be natural

Usability Study
I conducted a moderated usability study and gathered data from 5 participants. The entire study took place in person with users using my high-fidelity prototype. The users followed a series of tasks to complete and answered follow-up questions.
Users were not able to see museums on a map when opening the app
When checking museums near them, users were unable to check if museums were kid friendly
Users were confused about the virtual tour page and what parts were clickable.
