Knife Ambigram // Details

Question for the bézier curve and vector fanatics. I created a pretty straightforward vector drawing of my ambigram (see the attached image), which contained very few vector points. Then, making a few minor tweaks, I added a few curves to the points and some typographic elements that added a few more anchor points (see the actual shot.) Is there any way to decrease the amount of points further? To create the curves at the junctures, I used the VectorScribe plugin for Adobe Illustrator.
