The LUMI currency is the official currency for the Economic Community of the African Diaspora 6th Region. It was launched by the African Diaspora Central Bank (ADCB) and recognized as legal tender in continental Africa by the African Finance Regulatory Authority (AFRA) in January 2021.
The LUMI is both a physical currency and a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Its name, derived from "luminous," symbolizes the sun and reflects its backing by solar energy and gold.
