Wanderlust Travel Website
I can't explain how much fun I had designing this website. It's for net magazine's design challenge and the brief was to design a car hire website.
I'll be completely honest and say I know nothing about cars so I didn't want to go down the usual masculine car route so instead I created a fictional company that allowed you to hire retro cars to create a holiday of a life time. The idea was you could pick up a vintage car anywhere in the world, drive your planned route like Route 66 and return the car at another location.
I was inspired by aspirational brands like AirBnB and I wanted to bring their aesthetic to the car industry. The majority of the photography is from Death to Stock Photography (which made the design) and I wanted to use a calligraphy style typeface just to appeal to a whole new audience that may not necessarily think about car hire as a holiday or even be interested in car hire. I also used Avenir, which matched the calligraphy typeface perfectly.
