Downton Distillery Vodka Icons

I love working with fellow artisans. Especially like-minded independents striving to make and create in the most environmentally light way we can.

Downton Distillery is one such brand. Hugh, their Master Distiller, launched their premium Chardonnay Vodka last year and invited me to work on the label designs. Naturally, pictograms wove their way in as part of the story telling process. And what a great little story of reuse and renewal it is too.

As the name suggests, Downton collect the left over Chardonnay grapes skins known as pomace from their neighbouring vineyard. With a little Downton magic, the pomace is distilled, left to rest and then bottled in 100% recycled glass. Even the stoppers are made from recycled cork. All of the natural distillation waste is then sent back next door as compost and the whole glorious business begins again.

Ordinarily, I’m not much of a vodka fan, but this is a genuinely delightful drop! And I’m not just saying that because of my small contribution. It’s also bagging a host of leading industry awards as well.

Enjoy the animation. Responsibly of course.

Cheers! B
