Finally learned how to properly shade with textures from the amazing @Ben Stafford - if you haven't done so...go check out his online classes at http://www.benillustrated.com/classes/ bc they are so worth the $$. He did a fantastic job of laying the foundation for how to create this halftone style, along with a bunch of other textures.

I'm going to keep exploring with some illustrations in an effort to sharpen this skill, so stay tuned for more!
