After years of working at the intersection of education and finance, Boost founder Nicole Jarbo was tired of seeing young peopel struggle with money. This new generation of workers grew up in a gig-economy, so having multi-hyphenate careers is a way of life for them. But how does a Fiverr illustrator / coffee shop worker / tattoo artist manage those stream of income effectively? How do these people know where to put their energy and how to build a sustainable financial future for themselves? The traditional systems aren't built for them, and that's where Boost comes in.

SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE OF MONEY WITH YOUNG FOLKS

We were excited to serve this group with Nicole, but we knew that speaking about finances with anyone is a challenging, nuanced, and loaded conversation. In our Discovery Phase we identified the need to create a brand that would speak the language of creative young people while building an insane amount of trust. We wanted our users to see themselves reflected back to them with Boost and that’s sometimes messy, always outspoken, and above all visually dope. The air balloon logo communicates an upward trajectory and our commitment to building a slow company rather than a rocket ship. Financial wellness takes time and we wanted everything we do at Boost to communicate this truth.

ORGANIZING & OPTIMIZING WITH AI

The biggest problem with our user base is “what to do next?”. They’re working, making money, doing their thing, finding success. But in a world with opportunity around every corner and prices skyrocketing all around them, it was important we design a tool that would explain in plain english (or localized language) what they should do next. From daily Instagram-Story-Like updates on their financial health, to a flexible “cashflow forecast” tool, our Design Phase armed Boost users with everything they needed to organize their money in & out, and create personalized financial plans powered by Ai.

As the Boost community grows they have integrated more Ai powered tools including a LLM powered cashflow management bot, an expense auto-tagging system, and tools to generate the best debt payoff strategy for you to make minimum or bonus payments in 1-click.
