ExplorEasy - Generative travel itineraries
I’m excited to share with everybody a project that I worked on with three of my colleagues during the second edition of iX Hackathon, an internal event held at IBM Romania. The main themes for this year's hackathon were smart living and natural disaster solutions.
Our project is called ExplorEasy, a web application that can generate personalized travel itineraries based on user’s location and preferences. We used NextJS, Carbon Design System, Google Maps API, WatsonX and Microsoft Azure to build the application.
With ExplorEasy, the users can set their location, travel dates, budget and interests, then WatsonX will generate a list of activities and locations, added on the map, that suit their preferences. The users can also adjust their preferences and change the itinerary to their likings.
We spent five weeks developing this application and we are proud of the result. We competed against seven other teams in the hackathon and we won the second place. We also received positive feedback from the judges and the users who tried our app.
