Saving Time in Medical Appointments
Where can technology save time and efforts in the medical world?
Besides medical techonoligical advancements, the automatization of bookings and screening procedures came with the benefit of saving human-efforts, budgets and times. This platform aimed to ease the user's experience upon booking a stressful medical appointment.
This website was developed for desktop initially, however later on the product is also designed with a mobile approach in mind, following a Graceful Degradation process.
User Pain Points
Long queues and waiting times to see physicians and doctors.
Increased waiting time and misspending of resources to provide screening tests and questionnaires for patients.
Same user/patient may have different insurance plans or access to different hospitals and has to access different platforms.
Needing to book an appointment to see a doctor in case of doubt or question about medication.
User Research
Design Phase
For this project, I deemed that a Sequential website would be most suiting, enabling the user to follow a straight path from start to finish.
Mobile Website Version
In nowadays society, more and more users’ first access to the internet is on a mobile device, so designing a website that is responsive on both desktop and mobile is imperative.
The Next Billion Users in an approach that must be in the designer’s mind in every project, which I tried to emulate in the creation of this online service.
Further Improvements
Based on user testing conducted with 5 participants, I was able to observe some necessary modifications.
"Book Again from Previous Appointment" feature to be added during the initial booking stage.
Access to payment history and online payment portal.
"Book Again" option to be featured from previous appointments page.
