Instagram Profile
Once upon a time all I ever did was mobile product design so I've decided start working out those skills again. To kick it off I decided to take a shot at it by updating the @Instagram profile view.
The overall thought is "birds eye" how can user "A" gain a quicker understanding of user "B". The current view gets it done adequately, but I wanted to push it to see if there was more we could do to speed up the process. There are a lot of little changes throughout but really there are two worth mentioning:
1. Header Image
In this scenario, my most popular posts would automatically cycle through behind my profile picture (and stats) or you the could swipe Left/Right to view more. In hundreds or thousands of posts having a quick glance at the top could potentially make the decision to follow much quicker.
2. Larger Avatar
This was a no brainer for me, its currently so damn small. What about older users? How can we more quickly identify someone when their user name is something other than their actual name? This approach brings profile owner forward and provides additional clarity so that there can be a conclusion and an establishment of quality and trust more quickly.
