Verizon: Location Technology

In my role as a service designer and digital cartographer at Verizon, I leveraged my prior experience from the Google Street View and Google Maps teams to spearhead a transformative project for the 5G Smart City initiatives launching in major urban centers. Tasked with the end-to-end design of a custom map, my responsibilities spanned the comprehensive delineation of its core functionality, usage scenarios, isometric views, dark modes, legends, menus, and 3D modes, tailored for both web and mobile platforms.

This bespoke map was strategically crafted to meet the unique needs of Verizon's 5G Smart City initiatives, catering to clients of considerable scale, including industry leaders such as Amazon and Tesla. The map not only provided essential navigational and locational information but also offered innovative features like isometric views and dynamic 3D modes. Moreover, recognizing the importance of accessibility and developer engagement, an open API was integrated into the design, allowing developers to harness the map's capabilities for their applications.

This project showcased my ability to synthesize diverse design elements and address complex requirements, contributing to the success of Verizon's forward-looking Smart City endeavors.
