Austin Film Festival Marketing Content
Over the past couple of months, I had the opportunity to work for the Austin Film Festival as their Digital Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Manager until the festival came to a close. My main responsibilities included creating email marketing campaigns and managing all social media channels. Though I did so much more, these two tasks filled most of my time and were my favorite parts!
Working for AFF during their 30th Anniversary celebration was truly an incredible experience that allowed me to hone my skills in digital, email, and social media marketing, as well as other areas. It also gave me the confidence and skillset to manage a team and all things social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
Here, I've listed some of my best graphics from various campaigns, including short film announcements, what were current festival events, schedule announcements, and several email designs. I mainly used Canva for social media, Emma for email marketing, and the Adobe Suite for different tasks.
Austin Film Festival Color Palette
Each year, AFF chooses a new theme. For their 30th Anniversary, they chose these colors. We were allowed to use other colors sparingly, especially if one of the other programs, such as Film & Food, had its own branding, but these were always the primary choice.
Social Media Analytics
My main goal for my time at AFF was to increase their social media presence before and during the festival in comparison to last year's festival and the time before I was hired. According to the statistics, that's exactly what I accomplished. Below are snapshots from the Meta Business Suite with analytics on the Facebook and Instagram accounts. All percentages are in comparison to the previous 90 days, when I wasn't employed at AFF. Some highlights are:
New Instagram followers: +2,881
Instagram engagement: 17.4K - UP 157.2%
Instagram post reach: 67.1K - UP 333.7%
Instagram profile visits: 29,029 compared to last year's 23,843
New Facebook followers: +560
Facebook engagement: 2.5K - UP 90.7%
Facebook post reach: 37K - UP 155.2%
Facebook visits: 21,354 compared to last year's 5,910
Social Media Campaigns
Of the many campaigns I worked on, the short film announcements were my favorite, displayed with the first gallery below. I was able to simultaneously be creative with each category's template and discover the filmmakers' creativity with the film photos. The second gallery shows miscellaneous graphics, and the third contains the reels I designed, including AFF's full schedule release announcement and panelist quote highlights that were posted the day they occurred during the Writers Conference.
I also wrote and edited the copy for and scheduled most of these social media posts myself, along with designing them, which all took place in Hootsuite. Nearing the festival, I oversaw an average of 8 posts scheduled per day, including weekends, on all social media channels. In short, Hootsuite was my best friend.
Email Campaigns
The first three emails listed were designed during the festival. Each day, we would send an email with daily updates and conference, film, and party highlights to help festivalgoers stay up-to-date with the schedule. The last two examples are from before the festival, explaining current events and marketing the festival itself.
