Weather Widget – Apple Vision Pro / visionOS

So, what's the weather like out there in NYC? This week I continued my journey in a beautiful mixed reality world and designed this weather widget concept.

I really wanted to show the duality of the widget with this animation. It can be both a tiny secondary window hanging out there on the side while you’re busy with other apps, and when you want a bit more detail about the weather, it’ll proudly take center stage and immerse you.

Obviously, when designing this, I was following along closely with the existing Apple Weather apps. This is kind of “What might the weather app look like on visionOS?”. I love the immersive experience the guys at Apple offer us on iOS with all their stunning backgrounds. I tried to push it even further with the possibilities of mixed reality technology. Have I gone too far though? I'd probably have a 'code brown' moment seeing this lightning in my living room for the first time :)

Tools used: Figma (wireframes, interface), Cinema 4D (3D, environment, sun, cloud), After Effects (motion, lightning, compositing), and Photoshop (color correction).

No AI used for content generation purposes.
