Doggo – Mobile App
Hey there! 👋🏻 Welcome to Doggo! 🐶
I've designed an innovative app, connecting dog owners with the most dependable and trustworthy caretakers out there. Picture this: video introductions, verified caregivers, and an interface that's all about giving you clarity and peace of mind. You're in for a tail-waggingly great experience, connecting with the best caregivers in your area! 🐾✨
Goal
I aimed to design an app to address the worries most dog owners face when they need someone to walk, sit, care for, or play with their dog(s) when time gets tight.
Problem
Most dog owners have a difficult time finding trustworthy caregivers and a platform that puts trust and professionalism first.
Solution
Create a seamless platform connecting dog owners with trustworthy caregivers. Ensuring convenience, safety, and satisfaction for both parties.
Getting to Know the User
Keeping the user at the center is the most important part of the design process. I interviewed 5 people trying to get a better understanding of the pain points that they faced when trying to find someone to care for their dog.
The main pain point I found was trust, reliability, and peace of mind. Most users were concerned that their dogs would not get the care they deserve.
Research and Define
During the research phase, I performed interviews, card sorting, and competitive analysis. This really helped me start defining the requirements for the app.
Ideation
With a better understanding of the user and project requirements, I could start the ideation process. Creating user flows and wireframes to work through the requirements before visual design.
User Flows
User flows helped me refine and define the booking process.
Wireframes
Traditionally, I like to start with sketches to hash out ideas quickly. It was ideal to be able to use FigJam to accomplish this.
Visual Design
Once the wireframes were validated, the UI design phase began. This involved selecting color schemes, typography, and visual elements that evoke trust, friendliness, and simplicity. Consistent branding elements were crafted to establish a recognizable identity across the app.
Styles
For this project I wanted it to feel warm, inviting, professional, and trustworthy.
Library
Creating a library for styles and components is essential to consistency.
Features and Design
Video Introduction
The main feature I decided to incorporate came from the research phase. The video introduction feature gives dog owners the comfort of getting an introduction to the caregiver before they hire them. It also gives the caregiver a way to set themselves apart from the competition.
Verified and Certified
Being Verified Doggo means the caregiver has provided Doggo with the necessary documents and certifications to be considered a Verified Doggo.
In-App Weather
This feature seems simple but will help keep you informed about the decisions you might make when scheduling a walk or playdate for your dog.
UI Cards
Cards offer users a consistent and organized layout, providing clear structure and easy content scanning in the app.
Prototyping and Testing
Usability testing is key to making sure your ideas work and that there are no pain points for the user. During testing, users were getting confused with how the recurring services worked. Adding Buttons and clarifying the steps helped alleviate the pain points.
Conclusion
My goal was to craft an app offering dog owners a sense of unwavering trust, reliability, and ultimate peace of mind. I'm eager to receive your feedback. Do you believe I've successfully achieved these objectives? I'm open to suggestions for enhancing the app. Please share your thoughts in the comments! Your input is invaluable to me.
Key Takeaways
Throughout this journey, the area where I've experienced the most growth is in the realm of iteration. The significance of iterating became abundantly clear to me as each iteration became a stepping stone toward uncovering viable solutions. I've learned the immense value of fearlessly experimenting with new ideas, whether it involves duplicating a screen and tweaking a single element or exploring various avenues to enhance user experience. This process has shown me that from initial concept to tangible reality, completing a project isn't merely about isolated parts of the design process; it's about embracing the holistic approach to product design.
