BFC: Logo for the Tribal Buffalo Summit
I think this is the logo I am the most proud of. I was asked to create a logo for an event that was the gathering of several Native American tribes, the first of its kind in over two decades. Not being Native American, I was nervous to execute with mindfulness. I wanted to design something that not only showed respect to the elders but also served its purpose in overall media and fundraising efforts and also made younger generations proud of their family history so they would carry on for decades to come.
The design may not seem like much, but I know it hit home when the client sent this comment to Patagonia when they asked about our project collaboration:
"Working with Angela has been a true gift. Angela has the capacity as an artist to see deeply into a project request; past the deliverable and into the heart of the graphic design we are seeking. Buffalo Field Campaign works intimately with Native People and is planning a Tribal Buffalo Summit, the first of its kind for many generations. Our Tribal Summit Coordinator, Dallas Gudgell, Dakota, and Executive Director, James Holt, Nez Perce, are tribal men with a deep connection to their Indigenous Roots and Lifeways. Without having to say more than that and sharing some photos of personal native art, Angela was able to come up with 4 unique logo designs for the summit. "
