Love & Light: Diwali Pet Safety
As we get closer to Diwali, I thought I'd create some Diwali-inspired illustrations in a series called Love & Light
This Diwali, ensure our furry friends feel safe and loved!
Follow these tips to make it a Pawsitively Safe celebration:
Create a Comfort Zone
Set up a quiet and comfortable space for your pet to retreat when the fireworks start. Make sure it's away from windows and doors to minimize noise.
Keep Calm and Comfort On
Pets often pick up on their owner's emotions. If you remain calm and act normally during the fireworks, it can help reassure your pet. Offer them extra attention, pets, and soothing words to let them know everything is okay.
Drown Out the Bangs with Calming Sounds
Play soft, calming music or turn on the TV to drown out the noise from fireworks.
Secure the Environment - Close Windows & Doors!
Ensure that all windows and doors are securely closed to minimize both the noise and the chance of your pet escaping. ID and Microchip for a Safe Return
Make sure your pet has proper identification in case they escape or run off. If they are not already microchipped, remember to update their collars with your contact information.
Finally, if you need Calming Meds, speak to your veterinarian!
Let's make Diwali a joyous time for every member of the family.
