Mitla Cafe Branding

Mitla Cafe is located in sunny San Bernardino, California off Route 66. Founded in 1937 by Lucia Rodriguez, throughout its incredible history it has been an important meeting place for desegregation meetings and activism, host to Cesar Chavez and many politicians, and the original creator of that famous crispy taco we all love that Glenn Bell chose to claim as their own.

The rebranding of Mitla Cafe pays homage to the founders and its iconic building still stands today. In the photo to the right below, you can see that I took pattern inspiration from the hatched fencing in the background of the photo and the patterns of Lucia’s shirt and incorporated them into the logo itself. It was an honor to work on this project!
