Labor illusion - UI micro animation

Recently, I've been working on an AI product that helps students create personalized schedules for their exam preparation.

It's a challenging task because exams are something that play a crucial role in a student's life and I knew that only if I could build trust in my product, students would be more likely to rely on it to help them succeed.

Therefore, it becomes important here to design for trust.

When I was brainstorming on this challenge I remembered this UX psychology that I had read earlier about i.e. "Labor illusion effect". This principle states that people value things more when they see the work behind them. While my AI was working on generating the schedule, I used the loading time to show the user a UI micro animation that illustrates the effort and work that goes into preparing the schedule.

This micro animation serves two purposes.

First, it helps to build trust with the user. The user sees that my AI is taking the time and effort to create a personalized schedule for them.

Second, it helps to reduce anxiety. The user knows that the AI is working hard, so they don't have to worry about whether or not the schedule is good enough.

This is how I designed UI micro animation that is both effective and trustworthy for my users by leveraging UX psychology.
