Animayo 2023 International Poster Contest

The contest had many themes we could choose from: creativity, fantasy, and games were only a few of them. I decided to go with the fantasy theme, which is why the girl is holding a bubble with a fairy that looks exactly like her, the only difference being her hair color.

This poster holds many meanings for me: The first one is how easy it was to believe in magical things when we were kids. Not being able to see something didn't mean we couldn't imagine that it was true, and we might have had very clear pictures in our minds about many different creatures, that we ended up forgetting because we had to grow up. The fairies might not have existed in the world around us, but they definitely did in our imagination. That creative imagination we had back then is something that would be pretty useful in our artistic journey.

The other meaning this poster holds for me is the desire to be someone else, someone more, someone more interesting. I believe everyone feels that way sometimes. It is so easy to think that things would come easier if we were someone else. As a child, I always thought that fantasy creatures are so cool and that it would be so much easier to be one of them. But what makes us think that being someone or something else would make things easier? Instead of wishing to be someone else we could try to make our lives better because only we can make a change in it.
