Money Africa LMS for Kids: Mobile App

Problem

Money Africa, a renowned organization for financial literacy, primarily served adults but recognized the importance of educating kids on financial matters. The challenge lay in how to make complex financial topics accessible to children across various age categories.

Solution

A mobile app, Money Africa for Kids, was conceived to provide young minds with financial literacy. A multi-disciplinary team of user experience designers, brand designers, content writers, and business analysts collaborated with Money Africa's team to bridge this educational gap. The solution aimed to be both engaging and informative.

Design Process

  1. Stakeholder Meeting: Aligned project goals and refined product requirements.

  2. Challenges: The complex topic of financial literacy for kids requires an instructional design approach.

  3. Research: Interviews, surveys, and ethnographic observation helped understand the needs of different age groups - Basic Class (5-8 years), Intermediate Class (9-12 years), and Advanced Class (13-17 years).

  4. Analysis: Findings presented to stakeholders for prioritizing and brainstorming.

  5. Curriculum Onboarding: Aligned with education experts on content.

  6. Low-Fidelity Wireframes: Tested with kids and parents to validate the prototype.

  7. Brand Identity: Developed playful brand assets for kids.

  8. Information Architecture: Designed to suit the different age categories.

  9. High-Fidelity Prototyping: Refined through iterative testing with stakeholders and users.

  10. Safeguard App: Introduced a parental control app for safety.

Result

The launch of Money Africa for Kids was met with enthusiasm from both parents and children. The solution was a success, bringing accessible and engaging financial literacy to young minds.

Learnings
