Streamlining Group Food Orders

Streamlining Group Food Orders - Introducing a Social Food Ordering System for Leading Food Delivery Apps

(I created this product as part of my design role's hiring task.)

Problem Statement: Users need a convenient way to order food for groups (Family, Friends, Company etc).

User Research: Qualitative Interviews

I conducted a brief qualitative interviews with my colleagues and friends to gain insights into the user pain points and requirements related to group food orders. I asked them the following questions:

What are your biggest challenges when ordering food for a group?

What features would you like to see in a social ordering feature?

How would you like to be able to pay for a group order?

What information is important to you when viewing a group order?

How would you like to be able to communicate with other members of a group order?

How do you currently manage group food orders?

Key Findings/Solution: A social ordering feature that allows users to create and join group orders, add items from different restaurants, and pay individually or collectively.

Assumptions while ideating this solution:

Limiting the choice to 3-4 restaurants to ensure timely deliveries and prevent confusion.

Removing any price limit, allowing users to freely order without concerns about budget constraints.

Sharing a payment link via the same text message used for joining the group, streamlining payment collection for the host without any hassle.

Key Features:

Easy group creation and invitation

Shared cart for collaborative ordering

Real-time chat for communication

Flexible payment options

Host and User's Flow

Conclusion:

This feature can be seamlessly integrated into any existing app by adding a "Start Social/Group Order" button to the homepage. The user interface can be designed to match the existing app's look and feel, while ensuring that the key features are easy to find and use.
