CS2 UX|UI Platform Design

Counter-Strike 2 is a free upgrade to CS:GO.

As a web UX/UI designer, I had the opportunity to work on an exciting and challenging project - the redesign of the user interface for Counter-Strike 2 based project, a popular first-person shooter video game. This case study will showcase the design process, the challenges faced, and the successful outcomes achieved through a user-centered approach.

The Challenge: The user interface needed to be modern, user-friendly, and aligned with the game's new features while retaining the essence of the Counter-Strike franchise.

Process:

  1. Research:

    • Conducted a comprehensive analysis of the original Counter-Strike interface and the competitive gaming market.

    • Gathered feedback from the gaming community and playtesters.

  2. Information Architecture:

    • Redefined the information architecture for a more intuitive user experience.

    • Developed a clear hierarchy of in-game menus and functions.

  3. Wireframing and Prototyping:

    • Created wireframes to visualize the layout and structure of the interface.

    • Developed interactive prototypes to test key features and interactions.

  4. Visual Design:

    • Established a visual style that matched the game's tone, balancing the classic and contemporary elements.

    • Designed high-fidelity mockups for various screens, including the main menu, in-game HUD, and customization options.

  5. Usability Testing:

    • Conducted usability testing with both experienced Counter-Strike players and newcomers.

    • Gathered feedback on navigation, clarity, and overall user satisfaction.

  6. Iterative Design:

    • Incorporated user feedback to make necessary adjustments and refinements.

    • Collaborated closely with developers to ensure technical feasibility.
