CARNAVAL DE DUNKERQUE

METS TON BESTE CLET'CHE !

Three months a year, the city of Dunkirk (North of France) celebrates its traditional carnival.  The "Masquelours" or "Carnavaleux" dress up in their finest "clet'che" (disguise). It's agreed that this disguise is made up of recycled clothing, an outfit that is added to year after year, growing richer and richer with each edition. Some even claim not to wash it !

A true symbol of Dunkirk carnival, along with the Tambour-Major, the berguenaeres, the chapelles and the Z'harengs, the “clet'che” is a symbol of the imagination and creativity of every carnival-goer. It often represents a roadmap, an identity card for the wearer! Adopting wigs, skirts and stockings, jewels, false eyelashes, make-up and flowered hats, all these clet'ches in the band make this event a magical and unmissable moment in the Region !

This poster pays tribute to each and every Dunkirker who, through their good humor, energy and benevolence, make Carnaval de Dunkerque an exceptional experience for all those lucky enough to take part !
