Website Redesign for ORT South Africa
Company: ORT SA is an education and training NGO. Their mission is to make individuals employable and to create employment opportunities.
Project Type: Website Redesign
Role: Product Designer
The Problem
ORT South Africa does great work, but their current website doesn't show it well. A better website can attract more supporters and help them make a bigger difference.
The Solution
Redesign their current website to showcase their positive impact, in order to attract supporters and enable ORT South Africa to do more good.
User Surveys
I conducted user surveys to understand our audience, their goals, and any frustrations when using an NGO website. This helps ensure the website aligns with supporter motivations, promoting engagement and support.
Insights
To engage with an NGO, people primarily seek clear information on:
The beneficiaries the NGO supports.
The organization's mission and vision.
Tangible results showcasing the combined impact of the NGO and its supporters.
Simplicity is Crucial: Time is a valuable commodity. If supporters feel they're spending too much of it navigating a complicated website, they're less likely to get involved.
Research Before Engagement: The NGO's website often serves as a primary research tool for potential supporters. If the website lacks key information, it might turn potential supporters away.
Fulfillment through Impact: Above all, what truly satisfies NGO supporters is seeing the real, positive change they help create.
User Persona
Based on research, I developed three user personas to guide website improvements (the volunteer; the philanthropist; the corporate donor)
User Flow
Based on user and market research, I created the core flow for each of the landing pages.
