Daily UI Challenge #2: Music Media Player

Time: 1 hour

For this one, I wanted to challenge myself by designing a media player in light mode. I imagined a music app that had an eclectic brand to match the infinite possibilities of musical genres. Since music is an art form, I wanted to build a UI style that immerses the user as much as possible in the art they are experiencing. I came up with a dynamic background and color palette that shifts to match the album art. Since the context of a media player means that text is less focal there are no massive blocks of text, I got adventurous with the font Livvy, which is one I normally wouldn’t go for as it feels a bit playful and novelty.

Of course since this is a dynamic style, I had to mock up some more example cases. I chose two additional songs with varying color / brightness to see how the design system I made would handle. I’m pretty happy with the results!
