CMA Workers United
On August 29, 2022, the workers of the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA) announced to the board of directors & management their intent to unionize due to many concerns and issues the workers have faced since the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2019 and other problems that have persisted before then. The name of this union is officially the CMA Workers United (CMAWU) and is in turn, a part of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME); a union federation dedicated to protecting workers rights and the right to collective bargaining.
As a fellow (former) member of CMAWU; I, alongside Char Haggerty of CMA’s Learning Department tasked ourselves with creating the look of the union with input from all the union members.
This is our story on how we united for a common look alongside a common goal.
