What is Thriving?

Thriving is a mental health application designed as a tool for creative people to find a better balance between their mental health and their everyday lives by creating a space for learning and growing. It provides tips, self-care, resources, and goals for creatives to maintain mental stability in a world where burnout, mental illness, and creativity is a constant struggle. The application is less clinical and more based on day-to-day self-help, and by creating an approachable brand, people will gravitate towards it in order to be interested to learn more, as well as provide a new type of mental health care that does not involve going to a doctor or filling a prescription.

Planning Process

The App

Thriving includes an array of mental help activities and resources to help those on the day-to-day. There are interactive breathing exercises, a planner, music for all of your needs, and even a crisis help button to make sure you have access to all emergency services. The app focuses on calm throughout its design process and its execution, with a positive color scheme and fun illustrations throughout to make mental health a helpful and happy experience, rather than a chore.

The Gallery Showing

Thriving was presented at a gallery opening of around 50 artists total. I installed two iPads for the public to use the working prototype and participate in the animated activities and app features in real time. I also displayed four posters and stickers which were for sale in the pop-up shop in the gallery. The goal was to create an installation that would catch the eye of the public and invite them to trial the application and learn more about the project.

Thriving has four accompanying vector illustrations utilized as both posters for the physical exhibit of the app and featured throughout the app itself in illustrations for buttons, backgrounds, animated exercises, and as general color schemes throughout.

Stickers

I created three sticker designs and their accompanying packaging based off of the Thriving app logos and illustrations. The designs were sent out to be printed professionally. The stickers were 3-4 inches and sold at the thesis exhibition, through social media, and through individual sales for sports teams and offices.
